After the board meeting on March 26 it was decided to extend provisions of our emergency response plan at least until May 14. The office will remain closed to the public until public health officials lift the emergency orders currently in place. This is a decision made out of concern for the safety and well-being of our staff, customers, and the surrounding communities.

A standby technician will be on call throughout this time to respond to any and all emergent requests. For any non-emergent questions or concerns, we recommend sending an email to This is a monitored inbox and one of our staff will get back to you as soon as possible.
Please be safe and left us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Quality and Reliability Since 1903

Get Information on Main Flushing

The flushing program at the Brunswick & Topsham Water District is a routine maintenance program designed to maintain the quality of water. Each year the District flushes the water mains by using a high velocity of water from fire hydrants. Flowing in the opposite direction of the water's natural flow, the high pace of water allows deposits that have settled in the network of pipes to be flushed out. If the District has been flushing in your area and your water is discolored, start by opening an outside faucet or fixture closest to your meter to clear the line. The natural minerals causing the discoloration are safe. If the water does not clear after a few minutes, please call our office.

The flushing program will begin on April 4, 2017 and generally lasts 4-6 weeks. Our crews will be working from Monday through Thursday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. We'll be updating our website and Facebook page daily with a detailed schedule of where our crews will be for the day. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call our office at 729-9956. Our office hours are Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
